Useful tips:
• If there are no (good) title and description texts, you can almost be sure that the site has
never been optimised.
• If the navigation buttons and the headings above the paragraphs do not contain (good) key-
words, you can almost be sure that the site is not optimised.
• Researching 5 search words almost always answers the question of whether the site is opti-
mised. During this research, you often come across dozens of good and necessary search
words that have not been used on the site.
Other sources
In addition to working with a checklist, other sources of information if this is available. Think of
customer reviews, surveys, complaints, the number of returns at a web shop, etc.
If it turns out that a site has not been optimized (properly), the number of visitors on the site
will also be lower than desired and possible. The next step is therefore to set up a project to
improve the SEO. Keyword research and a review of the navigation will always be part of this.
The project plan for improving a site is very similar to the project plan for setting up a new site.
The main difference is that the web builder adapts an existing site and does not build a new one.
If the site is easy to find, we look at usability and conversion.
14.1.2 Improve usability
Improving user-friendliness aims to create loyal customers. After all, satisfied customers come
back. Usability adjustments usually do not lead to extra visitors, but they do lead to increased
sales. We also use a checklist to improve usability. This checklist is not exhaustive or necessa-
rily suitable for every site. Adapt this checklist if necessary.
