The payment module is made available by the Payment Service Provider. (PSP) The PSP is also
responsible for the technical processing of the payments. To be able to use a payment module,
you have to enter into a contract with a PSP. PSPs always require that the shop has a Chamber
of Commerce number and a business bank account.
Payment methods
In the Netherlands, iDEAL is the most widely used online payment method. However, iDEAL is
only used in the Netherlands. If you aim your webshop at other countries, you should make sure
you offer payment methods that are current in those countries. In Belgium, for example, the
payment method MisterCash is very popular and in Germany Sofort Uberweisung. Most PSPs
also have these payment methods in their package. For credit card payments there is usually
something extra needed. Every credit card, for example Mastercard or Visa, has an issuer in every
country. If you want to receive credit card payments, you will usually have to enter into a con-
tract with these issuers. The technical execution of the payments is then organised by the PSP.

Accounting
For efficient business operations, it is necessary to link the webshop to your accounting and
inventory system. Standard solutions are often available for this as well. In particular, the larger
suppliers of accounting software have ensured that there are standard solutions for the links to
the most commonly used webshop software. We call such a link an Application Programming
Interface (API). These links can often be realised with just a few mouse clicks!
11.1.4 Logistics (D)
Online customers (you are probably one yourself) expect fast deliveries. "Products ordered
before 23:00 are delivered the next day" is a common phrase. To achieve fast delivery times, you
need a good logistics organization. Not every company is capable of organizing this. Fortunately,
there is a solution for this too: Fulfilment.
Fulfilment in relation to web shops means the outsourcing of activities that take place after the
order has been placed. Fulfilment includes:
Storage of your products
Unpacking and packing of incoming and outgoing shipments Shipment.
Product shipment
Processing returns
After sales
