4.1 The SEO factors
We now know that Google sets requirements for the quality of web pages. Moreover, conditions
must be met to enable the search engine to measure the quality of the web page. In addition
to the requirements associated with the two main groups, there are many other requirements
and guidelines that sites must meet. These requirements and guidelines are called SEO fac-
tors. According to Google, there are approximately 200 factors. Instead of factors, the term
"signals" is also used.
The 200 SEO factors can be divided into three main groups:
Keywords (the words you want to be found on)
Links (links pointing to your site)
Content (the content of your website)
The three main groups overlap to some extent and all have a relationship with relevance and
importance. In addition to the main groups, there is a group of smaller factors that overlap
with the main factors. Some factors are "Off Page", other factors are "On Page". We explain
this in more detail:
1. On Page factors: This concerns all factors on your own web page. Some of these fac-
tors are directly under your control and can be influenced, such as your own texts.
2. Off Page factors: These are all factors outside your own page. It also includes factors
over which you have no influence, such as your domain age (registration date of your
domain).
